Vea
Cleary is a Transgender HIV Prevention Specialist at Howard Brown
Health Center in Chicago. She started her work there drafting the
agency's re-invention of the SISTA manual into TWISTA, and then
worked as Acting Coordinator to launch TWISTA's Pilot. She then
moved on to develop the curriculum and coordinate the trial for
Howard Brown's own home-grown Transgender HIV Prevention Intervention,
LifeSkills. Both programs have received national recognition for
innovative program design, qualitative and quantitative positive
outcomes, and remarkable retention rates. Currently, Vea is an interviewer
for the nation's first Transgender HIV Behavioral Health Survey
(THBS) in collaboration with the Chicago Department of Public Health.
Concurrently, she serves as a founding member of the Trans Health
Team at Howard Brown doing internal and external needs assessment,
best practices review, capacity building, training, and department
development. While very much involved with research, her passions
are service provision, working with youth, and serving her communities. |
