Safe in the City waiting rooms
In this structural intervention, we showed the video and displayed related posters to all patrons in three publicly-funded STD clinic waiting rooms in Denver, CO, Long Beach, CA and San Francisco, CA. Waiting room interventions in medical settings:
- are easy and inexpensive to administer
- create minimal interruption of patient flow
- use minimal clinic resources
- are acceptable to diverse clients
- maximize potential "teachable moment"
Things we did to improve viewership:
- lowered the speakers
- added closed captioning
- played the video more frequently
89% of clinic patients surveyed watched at least a little of the video and could positively identify a main message.
